LINNEA DYAS WARD

After high school, I completed one year at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. I married shortly after that and helped put my husband through BYU and a MA program at Indiana State Univ., Terre Huate, Indiana. My life has consisted of many moves due to my husbands work and our own stupidity! We've lived in six states and twenty cities. We spent 15 yrs in the Seattle area and six in Ontario. Our move to Missouri turned out to be Mis'-er-y, so we moved back to Utah. In 1984, over a three week period, we toured Israel, Egypt and Rome. For two and a half years I was an office manager at a senior mobile home park where I could finally use my office skills. However, raising 8 kids has been my full time job. We have retired and reside in Ontario, OR.

I just think we were pretty lucky having such great teachers throughout grade school and high school. I was terrified of Mrs. Hester because I had heard stories from my brother and three older sisters, but she turned out to be a great teacher and administrator. I enjoyed her in the F.T.A. and had a super experience "student teaching" an English class in Mrs. Silvers' 6th grade class. Mrs. Hester did make me mad once when I was working in the concession stand during lunch hour; I didn't get it closed soon enough and got to Mr. Williams' history class late. He sent me to the office and Mrs. Hester had no sympathy for my excuse and gave me a tardy slip! I was mortified but it taught me a good lesson.
And who can forget Mrs. Swan chewing on her glasses and rolling her eyes as she talked. But she really was a sweetheart and fun in Library and Girls' League. I could go on and on about other teachers, but those are two that touched my life significantly.
The dances after the football games were a lot of fun.

Left April 30, 2012, to serve a mission for the L.D.S. Church in Cebu City Philippines Temple, with my husband. We returned October 9, 2013; we had a wonderful experience and completely enjoyed the Filippino people. They were generally very, very poor and it is really tragic how their government has treated them; most of them live under poor conditions yet they were a happy people and full of faith. We now have many new friends on Facebook.
